On Saturday, April 30, the California Jazz Foundation will host its annual “Give the Band a Hand” Gala at the Omni Los Angeles Hotel. The organization, which assists jazz artists in need, will present its Nica Award to Blue Note Records president Don Was. In addition, the late Jeff Clayton will be honored with the Heritage Award. Comedian Alonzo Bodden will serve as host for the event, and special guests include Marcus Miller, Ronnie Foster, Paul Jackson, Jr. and Clayton Cameron. The Rickey Woodard Quintet will perform in tribute to Was and Clayton.

The event opens with a red-carpet reception and silent auction, followed by a gourmet dinner, personal tributes, and musical performances celebrating both honorees. For more information, visit the CJF website.
