At its 8th annual Jazz Awards Luncheon, performing rights organization SESAC honored 15 affiliated composers for their albums released in 2012.
Honorees included Robert Glasper’s Grammy Award-winning Black Radio, Vijay Iyer’s Accelerando, Cassandra Wilson’s Another Country and Tom Harrell’s Number Five. Joe Alterman, Bob Baldwin, Bruce Barth, Chris Dave, Yelena Eckemoff, Orrin Evans, Drew Gress, Jeremy Pelt, E.J. Strickland, Bobbi “Funkee Boy” Tammaro and Matt Wilson also received awards.
The luncheon at New York’s Jazz Standard club included performances by Matt Wilson, Ben Allison, Orrin Evans, Michael Blake and Jeremy Pelt. SESAC executives Trevor Gale and Linda Lorence Critelli hosted the event.
