Jamaica Center for Arts & Learning (JCAL), a multidisciplinary arts center located in southeast Queens, New York, virtually relaunched its Second Thursday Night Jazz Series on October 8. The concert series—a tradition at the Queens-based community arts center, which has offered performance, exhibition, and education programs since 1972—will continue through April 8, 2021, to be followed in May by the multi-day JCAL Jazz Festival.
The series livestreams for free through JCAL’s YouTube channel.
Second Thursday Night Jazz’s new all-digital season began with a performance by vocalist/composer Vanisha Gould and her trio. Like Gould, future artists will broadcast their performances from JCAL’s black-box theater in Jamaica, Queens. Performances take place at 7 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month. The series is curated by the Jazz Gallery and its noted artistic director Rio Sakairi.

November 12, 2020 – Melissa Aldana Trio
December 10, 2020 – Ritual Space: Jen Shyu, Immanuel Wilkins, Cory Smythe
