Jazz at the Athenaeum, a performance series that takes place at the Athenaeum Music and Arts Library in the La Jolla neighborhood of San Diego, Calif. , is celebrating its 25th anniversary this summer. The series began in 1989 with concerts by Harry Pickens and Mike Wofford and in 1996 began bringing in nationally known jazz artists. In 2001 the program expanded again, adding the Athenaeum Jazz at the Studio series at the School of the Arts Studio in University Heights.

To celebrate this anniversary, the Athenaeum will present four concerts at the library in La Jolla. June 5 will see two performances by pianists Bill Charlap and Renee Rosnes. June 12 will feature the Jeff Ballard Trio with Lionel Loueke and Miguel Zenón. June 18 will host the Melissa Aldana Crash Trio. This series concludes on July 17, with NYC-based vocalist Kendra Shank joined by Geoffrey Keezer.
