Posthumous Chico Hamilton Album Released

“The Inquiring Mind” features the late drummer’s band, Euphoria

The final studio recording session featuring drummer Chico Hamilton, who died last Nov. 25, was released on Feb. 25. Titled The Inquiring Mind, the album, Hamilton’s 65th, also features his longtime band Euphoria-Jeremy Carlstedt (drums, percussion and vocals), Nick Demopoulos (guitar and vocals), Mayu Saeki (flute, alto flute and vocals), Evan Schwam (saxophones, flute and vocals)-and special guests George Bohanon (trombone) and Jimmy Owens (flugelhorn and trumpet). The album was recorded last fall, when Hamilton was 92 years old.

To celebrate the release of the album, Euphoria will perform several dates at New York City’s DROM:

Wednesday, Feb 12 at 7:15 p.m.

Sunday, Apr 27 at 7:15 p.m.

Sunday, May 18 at 7:15 p.m.

Sunday, Jun 22 at 7:15 p.m.
