Pete Escovedo’s Birthday Will Be a Family Affair

Sheila E and Percussionist Siblings Will Celebrate Patriarch’s 76th

Pete Escovedo will celebrate his 76th birthday with a little help from his musical offspring: Sheila E., Juan and Peter Michael Escovedo will join the legendary Latin percussionist for four nights-July 14-17-at Yoshi’s Oakland (435 Water Street, Jack London Square). In addition to performing music, Pete’s artwork will be exhibited.

Pete Escovedo is best known for his three years as a member of Santana and has also recorded several solo albums and appeared with many other artists, including Herbie Hancock, Cal Tjader, Billy Cobham, Al Jarreau, Barry White, Chick Corea, Prince and Tito Puente. Sheila, Juan and Peter Michael-each a respected percussionist as well-also boast lengthy résumés, particularly Sheila, who is known for her work with a wide range of artists including Prince and Ringo Starr.
