Horn players Pee Wee Ellis (tenor saxophone), Fred Wesley (trombone) and Maceo Parker (alto saxophone)-alumni of James Brown’s band-will performing together for the first time in nearly 20 years. The show takes place October 6 at New York City’s Town Hall (123 West 43rd Street), in celebration of Ellis’ 70th birthday year.
The rhythm section that backed them when they recorded and performed together in the 1990s will join them here: the keyboardist Larry Goldings, the drummer Bill Stewart and the guitarist Rodney Jones, with the addition of bassist Christian McBride. A special guest will be announced soon.
Tickets are $40, $60 and $75 and can be purchased now by visiting Ticketmaster or calling 800-745-3000. The Town Hall box office will begin selling tickets on Sept. 15.
