Paquito D’Rivera to Lead Astor Piazzolla Tribute

Multi-instrumentalist Paquito D’Rivera, together with music advisor Pablo Aslan, will celebrate Argentinean tango master Astor Piazzolla’s 90th birthday at Jazz at Lincoln Center November 11-12 at 8 p.m.

Also joining D’Rivera will be Pablo Ziegler, Piazzolla’s longtime pianist, and Piazzolla’s grandson, Pipi Piazzolla. Performing The complete personnel for “Music of Astor Piazzolla” will be Paquito D’Rivera, alto sax, clarinet, music director; Pablo Aslan, contrabass, music advisor; Scott Robinson, baritone saxophone; Diego Urcola, valve trombone, trumpet; Antonio Madruga, piano; Octavio Brunetti, piano; Pablo Ziegler, piano; Pipi Piazzolla, drums; Nicholas Danielson, violin; Leonardo Granados, vocals, percussion; Dave Samuels, vibraphone, marimba; Hector del Curto, bandoneon; Daniel Binelli, bandoneon; and Claudio Rigazzi, guitar.

PA pe-concert discussion, featuring D’Rivera, Aslan, Pipi Piazzolla and Ziegler, and hosted by Nabate Isles, is free to all ticketholders in the Agnes Varis and Karl Leichtman Studio at 7 p.m.

The concert will take place at Rose Theater at Frederick P. Rose Hall, home of Jazz at Lincoln Center, Broadway at 60th Street, New York, New York.

Ticket prices are $10, $30, $50, $75, $95 or $120. Tickets can be purchased through or CenterCharge at 212-721-6500, open daily from 9am to 9pm. Tickets can also be purchased at the Jazz at Lincoln Center Box Office, located on Broadway at 60th Street, ground floor. Box Office hours: Monday-Saturday from 10am to 6pm (or 30 minutes past curtain) and Sunday from noon to 6pm (or 30 minutes past curtain).
