Newvelle Records, which every year records and releases six albums exclusively on vinyl, has announced its new vinyl box set subscription series for next year.
The 2020 box set, which celebrates Newvelle’s fifth year in operation, will include music by Rufus Reid and Sullivan Fortner, the Pablo Ablanedo Octet, Dave Douglas and Elan Mehler, Carmen Staaf, Patrick Zimmerli, and the OWL Trio (which is made up of Will Vinson, Lage Lund, and Orlando le Fleming).
Among the other artists appearing on the records, which also feature curated art and liner notes, are Kurt Elling, Anat Cohen, Jenny Scheinman, Ben Monder, Chris Cheek, Michael Formanek, and Dominique Eade.
The first record in the series, featuring Reid and Fortner in a duo format, will be distributed in February, followed by the Ablanedo album (with Cohen, Scheinman, Monder, and Cheek, among others) in April. The Douglas and Mehler album (which also features Eade in the lineup) comes out in May, and the Staaf album—a trio date with Formanek and drummer Jeff Williams—is slated for June. July will see the release of Zimmerli’s album, and the last installment in the series, by the OWL Trio with Elling as a special guest, will come out in August.
The vinyl subscription is now available for pre-order at newvelle-records.com.
