September 23 would have been Ray Charles’ 83rd birthday, and on that date the United States Postal Service will issue the Music Icons Ray Charles Forever Stamp. On the following day, Concord Records will release Ray Charles Forever, a CD/DVD collection. The 12-track CD will include such tracks as “Ring of Fire,” “Come Rain or Come Shine” and the previously unreleased “They Can’t Take That Away From Me” while the 20-minute DVD will feature rare live performances of “Imagine” and “A Song for You,” as well as interview segments.
According to LPC Media in a press release, “Concord will also be producing a special edition of Ray Charles Forever with an exclusive bonus track, available at major post office locations across the country, as well as online at usps.com and ebay.com.”
From the Grammy Museum in L.A. to the Ray Charles Performing Arts Center at Morehouse College in Atlanta, launch events will take place all over the country to honor the occasion.
