A new jazz piano club, Mezzrow, located in New York City’s Greenwich Village, will open on Sept. 3 with a performance by Johnny O’Neal.
According to a press release from the venue, “Mezzrow is a listening room and lounge located at 163 West 10th Street (at the corner of 7th Ave., across the street from another jazz club, Smalls) in the basement space. It’s an elegant place with an amazing piano and our goal is to feature the best of New York’s piano talent in that space.”
Already booked to perform in September are Cyrus Chestnut and Dezron Douglas, Rossano Sportiello and Harry Allen, David Hazeltine, Richard Wyands, Aaron Parks, Spike Wilner and Peter Bernstein, Bruce Barth and Peter Washington. Coming in later months are Ron Carter and Ethan Iverson, Larry Willis with Buster Williams, David Kikoski, Gerald Clayton, Orrin Evans and more.
