On April 21, Impulse!/Verve will release Charlie Watts Meets the Danish Radio Big Band, an album of a 2010 Danish National Radio broadcast performance at the Concert Hall of Denmark in Copenhagen. Featuring a mix of big-band charts, original compositions and Rolling Stones covers, the concert reunited Watts with childhood friend and special-guest bassist Dave Green, and hearkened back to Watts’ early ’60s work as a freelance jazz drummer in Denmark—before the Rolling Stones became a household name.

The seven tracks on the album include the Charlie Watts and Jim Keltner-penned “Elvin Suite” parts one and two; three Stones covers: “Faction” (a bossa nova reworking of “Satisfaction”), “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” and “Paint It Black”; and big-band classics “I Should Care” and “Molassas.”
