New CD/DVD Release to Feature Recently Unearthed Ella Fitzgerald Recordings

BBC sessions span the years 1965-1977

A cache of previously unreleased Ella Fitzgerald recordings, made between 1965 and 1977 by the BBC and recently discovered by archivists, will be released on July 23 by Universal Music Enterprises (UMe). The CD/DVD collection, Best of the BBC Vaults, features Fitzgerald singing such jazz and pop standards as “The Lady Is a Tramp,” “Mack the Knife,” “That Old Black Magic,” “Sweet Georgia Brown,” “Cheek To Cheek” and “Angel Eyes.”

The DVD contains four full-length shows encompassing 34 songs, including a pair of 1965 TV appearances, Ella Sings and Show Of The Week, a 1974 concert at the London jazz club Ronnie Scott’s and a 1977 set from the Montreux Jazz Festival. The 17-song CD collects highlights of Ella’s work from the BBC archives.
