As the COVID-19 pandemic has wiped out the income of musicians and many others in the jazz community, record labels have begun to step forward. Principal among them is Mack Avenue Music Group, one of the initial donors to the Jazz Foundation of America’s COVID-19 Musicians’ Emergency Fund. Starting today (April 30), Mack Avenue is taking its support further by launching what it calls the allONE initiative.
Here’s how it works: From now through Sunday, May 3, if you buy music at the Mack Avenue webstore by any artist on the label’s roster—which includes Christian McBride, Kenny Garrett, Veronica Swift, Julian Lage, and many more—100 percent of all sales will be distributed directly to those artists.
“These past several weeks I have been reminded of the amazing and resilient jazz and music community that we’re a part of as we confront unexpected realities,” Mack Avenue’s president Denny Stilwell said in a statement. “I am grateful for it and moved by it daily. It calls to mind how we really are one, connected through the love of music. I hope you will visit the site and support our event and find something for you, a friend, or family member to enjoy. Thank you in advance for championing the artists, their music and for choosing to do business with us.”
