Louis Armstrong House Museum to Hold First Gala

Proceeds will fund continuing operation of Satchmo’s Queens home

Inside the Louis Armstrong House

After providing services and programs for 25 years, the Louis Armstrong House Museum in Queens, N.Y., will hold its first annual gala on December 6. The event will honor 92-year-old record producer George Avakian, trumpeter Jon Faddis, and Dr. James Muyskens, the ninth president of Queens College/CUNY, the parent organization of the Museum.

The gala will take place at the 3 West Club at 3 W. 51st Street in Manhattan. A cocktail and hors d’oeuvres reception at 6 p.m. will be followed by an awards ceremony and dinner. The evening will conclude with a performance by Faddis, accompanied by David Hazeltine (piano), Todd Coolman (bass) and Dion Parson (drums).

Gala tickets, sponsorships, and journal ads are available by calling Nayelli DiSpaltro at 718-997-3670 or by visiting Louis Armstrong House.
