The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., has announced a three-year extension of its existing contract with Jason Moran. Currently serving as the Center’s Artistic Advisor for Jazz, Moran will assume the new title of Artistic Director for Jazz, effective immediately, according to a press release. Originally named the Center’s Artistic Advisor for Jazz in November 2011, Moran’s extended contract runs through the 2016-2017 season.
As Artistic Director for Jazz, the release states, Moran will continue to assist staff in developing programming and curating artists for the nonprofit Kennedy Center. Additionally, he will continue to work with the Center’s other artistic staff to develop programming for multidisciplinary festivals and other events in future Kennedy Center seasons.
