The first JazzTimes Top Track contest, which began accepting submissions in April, is now heading into its final days. If would-be entrants wish to have their music considered by our judges, they must register for the contest and submit an audio recording by June 14, 2022 at 11:59 PM Pacific Time. Each track must be submitted in MP3 format and cannot exceed 50 MB in size; all compositions must be original (no standards/covers, please).
Those who enter the Top Track contest will be eligible for three levels of prizes. The first-place winner will receive a $1,000 cash prize; the second-place winner will receive a $500 cash prize; and the third-place winner will receive a $250 cash prize. Each of the three prize-winners will have their tracks featured on jazztimes.com and receive coverage in a future issue of JazzTimes, both in print and online; they will also receive a one-year JazzTimes VIP membership.
After the entry period is over, our judges will get to work. Potential Top Track winners will be notified by telephone, mail and/or e-mail no later than December 31, 2022.
If you’ve made a piece of music that you think could be a Top Track, don’t delay—submit it before the June 14 deadline! The quality of the submissions so far has been high; here’s a brief snippet of one, just for example: bassist Al Payne’s “Let’s Meet Between 5 & 4.”
