Jazz Gallery to Honor Three Jazz Luminaries

The Jazz Gallery in New York will honor three individuals “for their contribution to and furtherance of jazz” on May 9 at the Players Club, 16 Gramercy Park S. in New York. Receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award will be bassist Ron Carter, recently designated as the most recorded bassist in history. Dorthaan Kirk of WBGO radio and Todd Barkan, impresario and artistic director of Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola in New York, will both receive the Contributor to the Arts Awards.

There will be a special tribute to Carter, along with a performance by trumpeter Roy Hargrove with pianist Gerald Clayton, bassist Dezron Douglas and drummer Johnathan Blake.
