Jazz Foundation of America to Honor Herbie Hancock

Will receive Lifetime Achievement award and lead Clark Terry tribute

Herbie Hancock
Chaka Khan

Quincy Jones’ Jazz Foundation of America will honor Herbie Hancock at the 13th annual “A Great Night in Harlem” on Oct. 24, at New York’s Apollo Theater. Scheduled performers and presenters include Jones, Bruce Willis, Chaka Khan, Jorge Luis Pacheco, the Heath Brothers (Jimmy and Tootie Heath), Matthew Whitaker, Charles Bradley, Verdine White, Questlove, Buster Williams, Justin Kauflin (from the Clark Terry documentary Keep On Keepin On) and more.

According to a press release, “‘A Great Night in Harlem’ will raise funds to assist countless elder jazz and blues musicians in crisis across the country, artists who have spent their lives making ours richer with their music.”

Herbie Hancock will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award from Jones and will lead an all-star tribute to trumpeter Clark Terry. Chaka Khan will pay homage to Maurice White of Earth, Wind and Fire with special guests.

The Apollo is located at 253 West 125th Street, New York, NY (between 7th & 8th Ave.). The concert begins at 8:30 p.m.
