Jazz at Lincoln Center (JALC) will open a new venue in Doha, Qatar, on Oct. 4. Officially called Jazz at Lincoln Center Doha at the St. Regis Doha, the new room in the small peninsula nation on the Persian Gulf will feature the Wynton Marsalis Quintet as its first show.

According to a press release, “The debut of Jazz at Lincoln Center Doha marks the first in a series of jazz clubs that St. Regis and JALC aim to create together as part of a unique global partnership announced last year. The opening of Jazz at Lincoln Center Doha coincides with the opening of the St. Regis Doha earlier this year, further solidifying Qatar as an emerging center of culture, commerce and leisure in the Middle East.”

The programming for the room will be led by Marsalis, who serves as Managing and Artistic Director of JALC. The press release states, “Featuring live performances six nights a week with a menu inspired by the musical genre, Jazz at Lincoln Center Doha offers spectacular views of the Arabian Gulf in an intimate setting. The 4,500-square foot jazz club, designed by Wilson Associates, will seat up to 100 guests in a theatrical ambience that recalls a legendary jazz venue of the golden era.”
