To celebrate Record Store Day on April 19, Omnivore Records will release Jaco Pastorius’ Modern American Music . . . Period! The Criteria Sessions on a multi-colored vinyl LP and on CD. The release consists of demo recordings made by the late bass innovator when, according to a press release, “a 22-year-old Pastorius and friends, prior to the release of his debut album, used after-hours time at Criteria Studios to work out new songs and jam. Eventually six of those songs were transferred to acetate. Many of the songs found their way onto the debut album, and others remained unreleased until now.”
