It’s Official: Ron Carter Is Most Recorded Bassist in History

Guinness says he’s played over 2,200 sessions

Guinness World Records has named Ron Carter the most recorded bassist in history. According to the company that keeps track of mosts and bests, Carter, who is 78, amassed 2,221 individual recording credits as of September 15, 2015. Carter began recording in the early 1960s and has played on recordings by a huge number of artists including Miles Davis, George Benson, Chick Corea, Horace Silver, Wes Montgomery and Herbie Hancock, as well under his own name.
