The DC Jazz Festival (DCJF) has announced the initial lineup for its 18th edition, which takes place August 31 – September 4 in our nation’s capital. Among the confirmed headliners are Christian McBride & Inside Straight, Cindy Blackman Santana Band, DCJF Artist-in-Residence Orrin Evans’ Captain Black Big Band, Dianne Reeves, the Baylor Project, Emmet Cohen, Patrick Zimmerli with special guests Chris Potter and Clarence Penn, Donvonte McCoy, 2021 DCJazzPrix winners Giveton Gelin Quintet and Dayramir Gonzalez & Habana enTRANCé , Vox Sambou, and the Dan Wilson Trio.

The festival includes more than 50 concerts, as well as Meet the Artist interviews and other events held throughout the city. The culmination of the programming is the DC JazzFest at the Wharf, with a festival-like presentation of sets on September 3-4 at District Wharf, one of the city’s dining and entertainment centers located on the waterfront of the Potomac River.

“When crafting this year’s lineup, we answered the call of artistic diversity that has become a DC JazzFest hallmark,” said the festival’s artistic director, Willard Jenkins, in a press release received at JazzTimes. “This year’s festival experiences will include in-person and livestreamed performances where audience members are afforded unique opportunities to experience all things jazz!”

Early bird tickets are available at a 20% discount for the entire month of April. For tickets or more information about the 2022 DC Jazz Festival, go here.
