NYC gig will take place at the Kitchen

Guitarist and composer Mary Halvorson will debut her new septet at the Kitchen in New York on March 24 at 8 p.m. This performance will open the second night of an event called Instrumentals, curated by Nick Hallett and co-presented with Carnegie Hall as part of the 2012 American Mavericks Festival.

The Mary Halvorson Septet features Kirk Knuffke (cornet), Greg Ward (alto saxophone), Ingrid Laubrock (tenor saxophone), Jacob Garchik (trombone), John Hébert (bass) and Tom Rainey (drums). The group will perform new original compositions written by Halvorson specifically for this ensemble.
