In celebration of Earth Day, Guitar Center and D’Addario are teaming up to give away strings at the music retailer’s locations nationwide Saturday, April 20 through Monday, April 22.

Any musician bringing in a guitar for setup will receive complimentary D’Addario premium replacement strings—either NYXL or EXP Coated Acoustic strings—as part of the guitar tuneup, with the old strings being recycled.

The event is part of D’Addario’s Playback Recycling + Replacement Program, as well as Guitar Center’s year-round string recycling initiative.

Since Guitar Center’s program launched, it has recycled more than two tons of strings with the help of TerraCycle, an organization focused on handling hard-to-recycle materials like guitar strings, which are not processed at recycling programs sponsored by cities and towns.
