Vibraphone great Gary Burton, who turned 70 on Jan. 23, plans to release a new album and his autobiography. In addition, Burton will launch a new 12-city tour in September. The album, Guided Tour (available August 20, on Mack Avenue), features the New Gary Burton Quartet (guitarist Julian Lage, bassist Scott Colley, drummer Antonio Sanchez). The autobiography, Learning to Listen: The Jazz Journey of Gary Burton, will be published September 3 by Berklee Press. Tour dates follow.
