The Django Reinhardt NY Festival, previously an annual event, will now take place twice a year, June and November. The schedule for the June event has been announced. The festival takes place at Birdland from June 9-14 and will also include a yacht cruise on Aug. 3.
Returning to the festival are the Young Lions of Gypsy Jazz from France, headed by guitarist Samson Schmitt, the son of Gypsy musician Dorado Schmitt, joined by Ludovic Beier on accordion and accordina, violinist Pierre Blanchard, rhythm guitarist Doudou Cuillerier, bassist Brian Torff and special guest Evan Perri of the Hot Club of Detroit
The band will be joined by Anat Cohen on June 19 and 20, Grace Kelly on June 21 and 22 and Cyrille Aimee June 23 and 24.
The festival is also branching out with a program taking place on the World Yacht, August 3, with the Hot Club of Detroit. For more information, visit World Yacht.
