Canadian Festival Manager & DJ Jacques Emond Dies

Involved with Ottawa Jazz Festival since the ’70s

Jacques Emond

Jacques Emond, programming manager of Canada’s Ottawa Jazz Festival and a jazz disc jockey at Ottawa radio station CKCU, died Jan. 6 after suffering a massive stroke the previous day. Emond’s age was not noted, nor was the place of death.

According to a published obituary in the Ottawa Citizen, Emond was “a pivotal figure for jazz in Ottawa since the 1970s … Emond was involved with the festival from its inception more than three decades ago until his retirement in 2010, first as a volunteer and then as its programming manager.”
