Blue Note Records’ acclaimed Tone Poet Audiophile Vinyl Reissue Series, launched in 2019 in honor of the label’s 80th anniversary, will continue through at least 2020. Produced by Joe Harley, the series features all-analog, 180g audiophile vinyl LPs remastered from the original master tapes by Kevin Gray of Cohearent Audio and packaged in deluxe Stoughton Printing “old style” gatefold tip-on jackets.
Next year’s titles (two for each month of 2020) were once again handpicked by Harley and cover not only the classic Blue Note era of the 1950s and ’60s but also releases from the ’80s and ’90s, as well as albums from other labels that are now under the Blue Note umbrella, including Pacific Jazz and United Artists Records. The two January releases—Hank Mobley’s Poppin’ and Stanley Turrentine’s Comin’ Your Way—are available for pre-order now at Blue Note’s online store.
