Want to merge fashion with your love of jazz? Blue Note Records has expanded its partnership with Japanese retailer UNIQLO to create a new set of T-shirts that will feature the covers of iconic albums from the label’s catalog. The new UT collection is not the first, as the label and fashion company had worked together going back to 2011, with an update last year. UNIQLO asked Blue Note Records president Don Was to select 30 essential Blue Note album covers; the UT designer chose seven in 2021 and this new group of five covers: Lee Morgan’s Cornbread and The Rumproller, Freddie Hubbard’s Hubtones, Andrew Hill’s Judgment, and Eric Dolphy’s Out to Lunch.

“We’re thrilled to team up with UNIQLO on this new UT collection that lets fans adorn themselves in the visionary designs of Reid Miles,” Was said in the press release received at JazzTimes. “In the 1950s and ’60s Reid created an enduringly hip Blue Note aesthetic with album covers that were themselves works of art, and we hope new generations will discover his genius thru UT.” The label has also updated the official playlist “Blue Note Meets UT,” which Was personally curated.
The new UT collection is on sale in UNIQLO stores worldwide and online at bluenote.lnk.to/uniqlo.
