Guitarist Bill Frisell and his Big Sur Quintet will perform a program they’re calling “This Land: Woody Guthrie’s Better World,” at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Appel Room, Sept. 19-20. Frisell, who is curating the venue’s Roots of Americana series, will be joined by violinist Jenny Scheinman, violist Eyvind Kang, drummer Rudy Royston and cellist Hank Roberts for the event. Shows are at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. and the venue is located in Frederick P. Rose Hall, Broadway at 60th Street, New York, New York.
According to a press release, Frisell “will explore the lineage of protest songs, while re-imagining familiar melodies through an adventurous perspective.” Each performance will be webcast live on JALC Live.
Single tickets for Bill Frisell’s Roots of Americana series, and all 2014-15 season concerts, will be available beginning Monday. Ticket prices for the Appel Room start at $45.
