Banjo virtuoso Béla Fleck will join with the Marcus Roberts Trio-Roberts (piano), Rodney Jordan (bass) and Jason Marsalis (drums)-for a collaborative album and tour. The album, Across the Imaginary Divide, will be released June 5 on Rounder Records, produced by Fleck and Roberts.
The project had its roots at a Savannah Music Festival jam session when Fleck performed with the trio in front of a small audience. All agreed to reconvene in the studio and to tour.
