Bassist Victor Wooten Hosts Trivia Contest

Fans answer questions in hopes of winning in-home concert

Victor Wooten-one of the premier bassists in jazz and rock, most famous for his work with Béla Fleck and the Flecktones-is hosting a contest to raise music awareness and promote learning, as well as thank his fans for their support. The Grand Prize is a private in-home concert from Wooten himself, with other prizes including gear from Samson, Hartke, Fodera and Wooten’s Camps at WootenWoods.

The contest is called Wooten World Won-Hundred and requires participants to answer trivia questions correctly to be entered into the sweepstakes. There are 10 questions per week with a potential for 110 total entries. “Some of the questions are about me,” says Wooten. “Some questions refer to other musicians, and some are as random as What animal has its big toe on the outside of its foot?”

Wooten says he created the contest to give back to his fans, but the choice wasn’t made entirely out of gratitude. “I wanted to maximize the results of the traffic that goes to my online sites, as well as to my friends’ online sites,” he says. “I felt that these questions might raise my fans’ awareness to other musicians, information and ideas they may not have been privy to.”

The sweepstakes is currently in progress and continues through April 15.
