Americans for the Arts, an organization dedicated to advancing the arts and arts education in the United States, has announced the recipients of its 2013 National Arts Awards. Among the winners is blues guitar great B.B. King, who will be given the Isabella and Theodor Dalenson Lifetime Achievement Award. According to a press release, “The annual awards recognize artists and arts leaders who exhibit exemplary national leadership and whose work demonstrates extraordinary artistic achievement.”
The awards will be presented on October 21 in New York.
Today, incidentally, is B.B. King’s 88th birthday.
