Label founded and run by Bob Karcy reboots with old and new releases, as well as video-on-demand channel

Billy Taylor

Arkadia Records, a label founded by trumpeter, vocalist, manager, producer, and jazz aficionado Bob Karcy in 1996, has announced that its entire catalog of more than 100 records will be released to the wide range of online streaming platforms for the first time. Among the artists with releases on the label are Dr. Billy Taylor, Benny Golson, Dave Liebman, Joanne Brackeen, and the Arkadia Jazz All-Stars (which featured those artists as well as T.K. Blue, Eric Reed, Randy Brecker, and many others). The catalog also includes releases from Postcards Records, a label founded by saxophonist Ralph Simon and featuring artists such as Steve Kuhn and Reggie Workman. Arkadia acquired that label’s catalog in 1999.

In addition, Arkadia will release previously unissued recordings by Brackeen, Blue, and the Arkadia Jazz All-Stars this year, along with its first new release in many years: the Brazilian singer/songwriter Tetel Di Babuya’s Meet Tetel. Finally, the label is creating a video-on-demand channel, Arkadia Concerts, that will feature many of its concert and documentary films from artists such as Herbie Hancock, Joe Williams, George Shearing, Dianne Reeves, Freddie Hubbard, Billie Holiday, Nancy Wilson, and many others.
