Archival John Lurie Collection Coming in January

“The Invention of Animals” features unreleased live and studio material

John Lurie

An archival collection of music by the John Lurie National Orchestra, The Invention of Animals, will be released by Billy Martin’s Amulet Records Jan. 21. The compilation assembles seven previously unreleased live and out-of-print studio recordings by Lurie leading his early 1990s trio with percussionists Martin and G. Calvin Weston.

The Invention of Animals also features a Lurie painting as cover art. It will be released on digital formats, as well as limited pressing, collector’s edition 180 gram vinyl.
