
On Wednesday, April 13, Jazz at Lincoln Center (JALC) will hold its Annual Gala—“Body + Soul: America Rises Through the Arts”—hosted by actors Angela Bassett and Courtney B. Vance. In a prerecorded video, Michelle Obama will present JALC’s Ed Bradley Award for Leadership to Darren Walker, the president of the Ford Foundation. Spike Lee will present JALC’s Award for Artistic Excellence to his longtime collaborator, Terence Blanchard. Performing at the event, which takes place at the Frederick P. Rose Hall in NYC, is the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, along with special guests, including: J’Nai Bridges; Summer Camargo; Elvis Costello; Garth Fagan Dance; Sullivan Fortner; Samara Joy; Julian Lee; Felix Moseholm; Endea Owens; Unity Phelan (principal dancer with the New York City Ballet); TJ Reddick; and Isaiah J. Thompson.
Tickets for the concert only are $150 and $200, with ticket and table packages available for the full gala experience, including a post-concert dinner celebration. Learn more about the gala here.
