The Chicago Jazz Festival, one of the nation’s largest free jazz festivals, returns as an in-person event on September 1-4, 2022, with a full schedule of shows held at the Chicago Cultural Center and at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park. The festival also includes a series of free concerts at local venues across the city from August 23-31 as part of the Citywide Jazz Community Funding Program. Participating venues include the South Side Jazz Coalition, Hungry Brain, Constellation, Sleeping Village, The Birdhouse Inc., Live the Spirit Residency, 51st Street Business Association, Museum of Contemporary Art, Elastic Arts Foundation, and The Whistler.
Among the artists appearing during Labor Day weekend are Henry Threadgill and Zooid, Bill Frisell, William Parker Quintet, Miguel Zenón, Linda May Han Oh, Jazzmeia Horn, JD Allen, Adam O’Farrill, Carmen Lundy, Kris Davis and Donald Harrison.
