Hankus Netsky and Eden MacAdam-Somer are co-chairs of the New England Conservatory’s Contemporary Musical Arts department. Netsky, a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and scholar, is founder of the Klezmer Conservatory Band, has composed extensively for film and television and worked with Robin Williams, Joel Grey, Theodore Bikel, Itzhak Perlman, and Robert Brustein, among others. He has taught at NEC since 1978. MacAdam-Somer, a violinist, vocalist, and percussive dancer, maintains an active international career as a soloist and with such bands as NotoriousFolk, the Sail Away Ladies, and the Klezmer Conservatory Band. She also serves as guest faculty member at the Afghanistan National Institute of Music.
