What could be more significant than encouraging the creativity of our young people and developing an audience for America’s home-grown classical music? For me, not much. The future of jazz, in fact the future of this very planet, lies in the hands of our young people. The global jazz education movement is a shining light of possibility in a world that has run amok in negativity. One only need attend the annual Jazz Education Network Conference to feel the overwhelming positive energy and joy people experience when they learn how to play and appreciate jazz, and, how it changes the lives of so many young people.
