Tune in right here on Thursday, April 22, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT for the 2021 NEA Jazz Masters Tribute concert, produced by the National Endowment for the Arts in collaboration with SFJAZZ. The concert pays tribute to this year’s honorees: drummer/bandleader/composer/educator Terri Lyne Carrington, drummer Albert “Tootie” Heath, multireedist and composer Henry Threadgill, and DJ/historian/archivist/producer Phil Schaap.

Directed by Miguel Zenón, the concert includes performances by NEA Jazz Masters Wynton and Jason Marsalis and Dianne Reeves, as well as Obed Calvaire, Avishai Cohen, Roman Filiú, Vince Giordano, Christopher Hoffman, Joe Lovano, Pedrito Martinez, Dan Nimmer, Linda May Han Oh, Danilo Pérez, David Virelles, Lizz Wright, and the SFJAZZ High School All Stars. There are also video testimonials from NEA Jazz Masters Herbie Hancock, Charles Lloyd, and Wayne Shorter, as well as Jon Faddis, Michelle Kinney, Jason Moran, and James Mtume.
