JazzTimes is honored to present the premiere of “Cocoon (Andris Mattson Remix)” by vocalist Sara Gazarek. The song, originally written and performed by Björk, was covered by Gazarek in an acoustic version on her 2019 album Thirsty Ghost. This new version was remixed by Andris Mattson of the neo-soul group Moonchild.
Besides Gazarek’s singing and Mattson’s remixing, the lineup on this track includes alto saxophonist Josh Johnson, keyboardist Stu Mindeman on Rhodes electric piano, bassist Alex Boneham, and drummer Christian Euman.
The singer comments: “Andris so beautifully captured the romance and sensuality of this song in his remix. It was thrilling to hear his voice in this music, and his take on this particular arrangement.”
