Throughout the week, a succession of artists-including Karrin Allyson, Julian Lage, Sean Jones, Terell Stafford, New York Voices, John Clayton, Joey DeFrancesco and many others-came in to talk about the cruise, jazz education and their own projects. You can see more of these video interviews at the JazzTimes YouTube channel.

In this set of video interviews from The Jazz Cruise 2013, saxophonist Steve Wilson talks about his early musical education-including his first instrument, his first paid gig, and his formal and informal music education. Wilson was on the Jazz Cruise performing with as an “All-Star” in a wide range of configurations – from small groups to big bands. He shared his thoughts on the various groups he leads, including his duo with Lewis Nash, trio with Renee Rosnes and Peter Washington and his quartet, Wilsonian’s Grain.
