Yaniel Mattos

From eight year old Yaniel Matos began studying cello and piano at the conservatory Estevan Sala, Santiago de Cuba where he remained until 1994, when he moved to Havana and finished his studies in composition and cello at the Instituto Superior de Arte, where he has graded by the hands of Professors Harold Gramatges, Jose Loyola and Amparo del Riego. During the time he was in Havana, he passed by the country’s most prestigious orchestras, playing with musicians such as Chucho Valdes, Isaac Delgado and Orlando Valles Maraca. In that period Yaniel also participated in several national and international tours. Yaniel was part of the youth orchestra of Havana and the String Quartet of the Superior Institute of Arts, as a cellist.
