A DJ ever since he discovered the Blackbyrds’ jazz-funk recording in the late 1980s, Rainer Truby enjoys mixing together 1960s bossa nova, the MPS fusion of the 1970s and other soul-jazz. Born in Germany in 1971, Truby became a DJ in 1990 and was working steadily within a year. In 1993 he met Michael Reinboth of Compost Records and worked on the project A Forest Mighty Black. He then teamed up with Christian Prommer and Roland Appel to form the Trueby Trio. The group has recorded several 12-inches, the album Elevator Music, a remix album (Retreated) and a set called Abstract Jazz Journey. Rainer Truby DJs all over the world, mixing together Brazilian music, soca, bluegrass, Gothic, Cajun, regional Mexican music, rock and calypso.
