Peter Kavanaugh

Peter Kavanaugh studied guitar under the legendary guitarist Joe Pass, and has spent the past decade as a busy sideman in Los Angeles playing a wide variety of jazz and blues-based music. In LA, Peter is best-known as a founding member of the Hot Club of Los Angeles, which plays the music of Django Reinhardt.

Peter’s new album “Whisper Not” has a straight-ahead-meets-60s West Coast jazz feel, rooted in electric guitar and vibraphone. The repertoire is lesser-known tunes from the American Songbook (plus one original), with unexpected elements of bossa nova, blues, bop, even some twang guitar and a Django Reinhardt deep cut. Overall, “Whisper Not” exudes a sophisticated, relaxed lifestyle vibe evocative of Southern California.
