Niji Adeleye

Niji Adeleye has been working as a pianist since the age of 14. Having started playing piano in his local church, it became apparent that his ability was past his years when noticed by Barking and Dagenham’s Community Music Service (CMS). He then undertook formal classical lessons and partook in various local jazz combo and big bands, where he first played with band members Michael Cuthbert and Jack Polley. This culminated in winning Barking and Dagenham’s Rising Star Award in 2009.

Emerging onto the London music circuit, Niji has played for The London Community Gospel Choir and Urbanvoices Collective, and worked with many other artists including Juliyaa, Stephanie Sounds and Laura Doggett.

Taking some time away from playing, Niji composed and recorded his debut jazz fusion album “Better Days Ahead”. With this record he seeks to “step out of the comfort zone, push musical boundaries and encourage his generation.”
