Nico Sánchez

Born in Bogotá, Colombia in 1979. His first contact with music was playing the drums. After two years of studieshe started to play classical guitar at the age of 13. 2001 he moved to Barcelona and attended the Taller de Musics where he obtained a Degree in Jazz Performance. His most influential teachers where Vicens Solsona, Oscar Peñas, Vicens Marti, Joan Chamorro and Cristina Canet. He has attended master classes given by Ben Monder, Mark White, Mark Whitfield, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Steve Cardenas, John Scofield, Bruce Barth, Steve Wilson just to named a few. He has been invited to the JazzPuzzle for Europe in 2004, 2005 and 2006 where he drew inspiration from his main influence, Pierre Vaiana. In 2005 he was awarded with a AIE scholarship for musical studies. He is currently the head of modern music at Aula de So.
