MON DAVID (vocals & guitar) is an award-winning United States-based Filipino-American jazz vocalist, composer, arranger, musician, poet & visual artist. A graduate of the University of the Philippines College of Music, he is noted for his wide and advanced vocal range, progressive singing style and techniques. He has studied the vocal art of the great jazz singers, to include but not limited to Ella Fitzgerald, Louie Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, Mel Torme, Tony Bennett, Mark Murphy, Jon Hendricks and various vocal groups like Manhattan Transfer. He has also studied and applied to his music the jazz principles of Thelonious Monk, Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis, Horace Silver, John Coltrane, and Antonio Carlos Jobim, to name a few. The highly-skilled singer’s tremendous knowledge of the many forms of jazz inspired music critic Roger Crane (Intl Review of Music) to write, “… David can swing you into bad health and then, turn around and break your heart with a ballad.”
