Hawaii Performing Artist “Maggie Herron” Releases

‘Between the Music and the Moon’ July 22

Produced by Maggie Herron and Bill Cunliffe

Right from the first smoky vocals, I was hooked on Maggie Herron’s style and a few minutes later on her composing skills…I listened to this CD for two days straight, admiring the lyrical content, catchy melodies, smart arrangements and Maggie Herron’s obvious multi talents. For jazz aficionados, one of Hawaii’s major attractions is the music of Maggie Herron – songwriter, vocalist and pianist. She can be heard regularly headlining at the popular Lewers Lounge in Honolulu.

Winner of Hawaii’s prestigious 2015 Na Hoku Hanohano Award for Jazz Album of the Year for her CD, ‘Good Thing’, Herron now follows up that acclaimed release with ‘Between the Music and the Moon’. On this new set, containing all-original music, Maggie collaborates with bassist, Dean Taba and with her daughter and lyricist, Dawn Herron. Grammy winner, co-producer and guest player, Bill Cunliffe also contributes several arrangements. Other key players accompanying Herron on the album are guitarist Grant Geissman, saxophonist/flutist Bob Sheppard and Abe Lagrimas on drums and ukulele.

Each of the 12 original songs creates a mood: fun, sexy, a desire to dance, to smile, to reflect or brings up a feeling of deep nostalgia and love.

‘Between the Music and the Moon’ is a sincere and heartfelt creation from a seasoned artist who has become a master of her art form.
